Getting in touch

Write to hello@erkos.app. It helps to include your iPhone model, its iOS version, the Erkos version (Settings → About → Version) and what you did just before the problem.

Please don’t send us your figures. We never see your data and don’t need to. If a screenshot helps, tap the eye first so the figures are hidden.

Logging

Logging an entry. Tap +, pick a category, type the amount, then press and hold the button until it fills. Letting go early cancels, so nothing is written by accident. Every entry gets a receipt.

Undoing or changing one. The receipt has Undo this entry. Later, open the Ledger, tap the entry, and choose Edit entry or Delete entry.

Money moved into your investments is capital deployed, not spending: log it against your position. Loan repayments are financing: log them against the obligation. Neither is a category, on purpose.

Moving money between your own accounts isn’t income or spending, so don’t log it.

Your bank balance

Erkos keeps your bank balance (your reserve) up to date by itself: it starts from the figure you gave in setup and moves with every entry. If it drifts from what your bank shows, perhaps after a missed entry, correct it in Settings → Your plan → Reserve → In your bank today.

Positions and obligations are updated by you once a month, on the + sheet’s Balances page.

Your plan

Rename, add or archive categories, income sources, positions and obligations in Settings → Your plan. A line that already has entries is archived rather than deleted, so your past months stay correct. A category can move between running costs and discretionary from its ⋯ menu. The currency and start month are fixed once setup is done.

Backups and a new phone

Keep a backup. Settings → Your data → Export a backup saves everything to a file you choose (Files, iCloud Drive or email). Export the ledger gives you every entry as a CSV for a spreadsheet.

Moving to a new phone. Export a backup on the old phone, install Erkos on the new one, and use Settings → Your data → Restore from a backup. Restoring replaces everything on that iPhone.

iCloud sync, when you turn it on, keeps a copy in your own iCloud account, so a new iPhone picks up where the old one left off. Your data goes to your iCloud, never to us.

Face ID and hidden figures

Settings → Privacy has Lock with Face ID and Hide figures when opening. If Face ID doesn’t recognise you, your iPhone passcode unlocks the app instead. Tap the eye at any time to hide or show figures.

If Erkos never asks for Face ID, check the Settings app → Face ID & Passcode → Other Apps, and make sure Erkos is on.

Reminders

Settings → Reminders sends a daily nudge to log the day, at a time you choose. It’s scheduled on your phone. If it doesn’t arrive, check the Settings app → Notifications → Erkos.

Membership

The free month starts the first time you open Erkos. After it, you can choose yearly (£29.99 a year) or lifetime (£79.99, paid once). Both cover everyone in your Family Sharing group.

If you don’t choose a plan, only logging stops. Every page, your ledger and your exports keep working, because the data is yours.

Restore purchases on a new iPhone from Settings → Membership, signed in with the same Apple ID. Redeem a code is there too.

Cancelling the yearly plan: Settings → Membership → Manage subscription, or the Settings app → your name → Subscriptions. Cancel at least 24 hours before it renews.

Refunds are handled by Apple, not by us: request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.

Deleting your data

Settings → Start again → Erase everything removes your plan and every entry from your iPhone and opens setup again. Deleting the app removes its data from your iPhone too. If you use iCloud sync, you can also remove Erkos’s data from the Settings app → your name → iCloud → Manage Account Storage. We hold none of it, so there is nothing to ask us to delete.
